WEEKEND

10.24.2004

11:50 PM

OK, i'll admit it. I'm up late because I didn't do my homework until now. Finally finished AP bio free response. Need to actually read up on heredity, confusing. Still have Calc left, but i'm tired and my stomach still hurts so I'll leave that till the period before. stupid stomach aches...it's been like 3 weeks, i've lost like 6 pounds (the only somewhat positive part of it), and it's not getting better. If the GI (gastro-interology, not general issue )specialist calls back, then i'll see what he has to say. Hopefully he'll find out what's wrong and fix it soon, even it it means sticking a tube down my throat.

So anyways, Friday night was SOS...enjoyed ryan's little game.

Sat: me=sluggard. woke up at 12, ate lunch, went through the usual stomach pains, tried to do homework, ended up watching TV, messed around computer rest of the night. OH, I did update my college apps with my improved SAT II score.

Sun was church. P. Jerry from SCBC spoke, good message, i think i'll do my CL devo on that passage next semester. Drove like mad to catch BART to Oakland. Sat through USC's admissions talk. typical, made the school sound like a good fit for me, but again all the admissions talks for all the schools will probably have that effect on me. Went to King Wah and watched my family consume their chinese food while i sat (sort've feeling sick again). Came back home, got a haircut, spent the next hour entering probably 100 different sweepstakes, then finished AP bio stuff.

speaking of sweepstakes, my mom told me that Marcus' dad has won a ton of stuff from online sweepstakes over the past 5 or so years. She said he won 2 computers, a laptop, $7000, a trip to DC, nike sneakers, and a box of live lobsters. that's like absolutely positively amazing and is why i wasted an entire hour of my life tonight.

IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME!!! (SOON)

10.21.2004

8:32 PM

I feel like a little kid again! There is a very good chance that Lord willing, CMBC will be moving to our own building. This means that we can have our own sound system! Today, I was researching on the net for different equipment! (i'm such a geek) I was able to get lots of what we need for just a little above $2000. not bad so far. Here's an abbreviated list of what i'm considering. any audiophiles want to critique?

Soundcraft Spirit E8 Mixer - $350
2 JBL JRX115 Speakers - $600
4 Shure SM48 mics - $280
ProCo 8/4 channel snake - $189
XLR and 1/4" cables - $150
Speaker stands - $100
Passive DI Box - $50
Mitsubishi projector ceiling mount - $300
VCR and DVD player - $150
VGA and composite cables - $30

still need stuff like power strips and extension cords and misc. connectors, but that's about it... let's pray first that the Lord is moving us to occupy this building, then we'll worry about tech needs...

STILL

10.17.2004

7:36 PM

I'm still sick, and completely sick of it. I've had to miss SOS and church this weekend, and I couldn't do much work, until now I guess. Last night I had this really bad pain on my abs and around to my back. man, that hurt unlike anything i've ever felt. ended up sleeping on the couch the rest of the night.

on a positive note, i've seen God a little more real this weekend. my mom found a nearly full bottle of prevacid she had from a couple years ago, and it's made me feel much better than the protonix did. no more nausea at least! PTL!

So until this thing goes away, i'm going to be taking it easy, which i hope isn't too long

GOOD STUFF

10.14.2004

5:02 PM

This week=mostly good.

Only problem is i'm still sick. the doc's office, which serves like a billion kids takes so long to relay by test results back. So far, no infection, but that doesn't help my problems. I stayed home Tuesday to catch up a bit since I felt sick. I'm hoping it's H. pylori so I can take antibiotics and move on with life. About time...

I've been receiving some neat stuff in the mail lately, which is cool. Finally got my iSkin for my iPod, which means i'll be toting it around a lot to complete the mobile user trio: cellphone, PDA, and Mp3 player. That same day, I finally got my ELC info for UC's so I could start filling out my UC app. UC kept me in suspense a couple days because they said they'd forward me the PIN later in the week. I got a formal invite to the hip-e computer kickoff, but since Sunday is a busy day and I have no way of getting into the city, esp. to Pier 39 where it's going to be held, i'm not sure if I can make it. What else..oh, I got a $3 check from SurveySpot. Good stuff when that happens. WashU and USC also sent me their college guides which is cool. If only I could get those essays written.

Amazon finally shipped my books and DVD. I am now the proud owner of the new Star Trek Generations Special Edition DVD, as well as the How To Ace Calculus the Streetwise Guide set.

I'm also getting paid $30 for working sound and tech at VCC last wednesday night. I might do it again tonight depending on if Sayles does it. That darn junior hasn't called me back yet...

What other randomness shall I ramble on about? My senior portraits finally arrived, the ones that cost $200 and are taken by Kurt. Yep, finally after 3 months. I'll scan one and change my profile pic soon, so instead of the scout uniform it'll be the tux. If you want a wallet, let me know and I'll see how many I can spare, depending on how much Kurt ripped me off.

Keep praying for me. The doctor should be calling any time now unless the entire office decides to call it a day early, which is pretty likely at this point.

UPDATE: blood test came back negative for H. pylori, which for me means i have to suffer through this

life stinks

10.11.2004

1:47 PM

life stinks.

i'm still sick in my stomach, my room's a mess, my stack of college stuff reaches to the ceiling (if printed instead of online), i can't think of any college essays, UC is behind on their ELC notifications for Valley, Stanford apps are due in 20 days, I can't follow the deep thoughts in AP lit, my shipments are taking too long to get here, i haven't touched the piano in like 2 weeks, i have days worth of homework to finish, my blogger is not updated with my xanga, need to find a way to SF this sunday, my desk is a mountain of mess, and the little cap on my favorite pen won't come off!

what have i learned from all this?

THANK GOD AT LEAST I'M NOT DEAD!

=/

10.08.2004

2:12 PM

ughh, what a way to ruin a perfectly good 4-day weekend. i've been having these gastrointestinal problems lately where if i eat absolutely anything, i get these stomach cramps and pains about an hour to 2 hours later. last night's was really bad. it started about 8 PM and didn't stop until 5 the next morning. you can imagine the crazy night i had trying to cope with it. it's been like this for about a week, and it actually first started after i got back from HK in july. so now my diet consists of saltine crackers, water, and tea. even too much of that kills me.

based on my research, i think it's a duodunal ulcer, but my mom thinks it's just stress (which in rare cases causes ulcers). Whatever it is, I just want to find out what it is, get some medicine or whatever, and have it go away, permenantly. not a lot of fun not being able to eat anything at all, and having abdominal cramping that makes you tired and useless to do anything productive. please pray that God will heal me.

on a more happy note in between my bouts of stomach aches, I ordered an iSkin for my iPod. it's the artic one that's basically a clear translucent color. That should give it some protection from fingerprints and scratches. I also got a car power adapter and an iTrip, so that when i'm in my old-school car, I can stream the tunes over FM since the tape player is busted. i hope the iSkin comes soon. i don't really want to take my iPod anywhere since it might scratch and what-not. i'll see though.

oh yeah, SAT II's are tomorrow. makes me so much happier that i've been having these stomach problems during SAT prep. takes the "eat a good meal" part out of the morning-of SAT tips. i'll have to be careful eating dinner too. anything could turn my night-before "good-night sleep" into a nightmare. again, please pray for me! as all you seniors should know, this time of year is extremely important.
